Ska Satellite was a subsidiary label started by Moon Ska, in order to...hell, I don't know. I think these releases were produced at a lower cost somehow, but I can't tell you how. They were definitely discount discs in the Moon Ska store. The Highball Holiday disc was the first of the Ska Satellite releases. All of the Ska Satellite albums were exclusively on CD.

When I interviewed Bucket back in 1997, I asked him which up and coming bands he thought stood out. He was very excited about the Robustos. This is definitely one of the best discs on Ska Satelllite. However, the Robustos got much, much better. CD only.

How is it possible that this was the only Checkered Cabs album? They did have several singles and compilation appearances, but this was the lone full-length. They were one of the stalwart DC ska bands, featuring the ever-infectious vocals of Caz Gardiner. This band seemed to have a hard time keeping a functioning horn section in place for any length of time. Always a lot of fun to see live. Caz bounces around on stage like Snoopy. I saw them last in...probably 2000...it was well after this CD had been released, and they had a solid horn section and a bunch of new songs. None of those tracks ever saw the light of day. I would love to hear some of those again. This one was only available on CD.
