The Gutter Twins - Albums and Singles
Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan...an interesting product. Each of them has done better things in his career. It's still pretty solid, though.

I consider the Gutter Twins to be an unfinished project. It has some potential, but as of their first album, it is yet to be fully realized. Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan, as a pair, could only have gone two ways: inseparability or utter catastrophe. Both have had penchants for hard drugs and dependency during their careers. One could easily imagine a joint effort between the two ending in disaster. For the moment, it has gone the other way. I would swear that these two have been inching towards codependency. This, however, has not manifested in the music.
Saturnalia is a solid first effort. However, it sounds much less like an integration of Dulli's and Lanegan's styles than half a Dulli album and half a Lanegan album. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It is what it is. It's fitting that the two have returned to Sub Pop after so many years. Double LP on black vinyl.

Sub Pop snuck one in there on us. Aside from a posting under news items on the Sub Pop web site, there was no announcement for this EP. It is (so far) only available online. Some great songs, but it still sounds like a split record of Dulli songs and Lanegan songs.
